Washington, D.C. – Since the federal government took over as conservator of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac several months ago, ACORN has been calling on the Government Sponsored Enterprises (GSEs) and their regulator, the Federal Housing Finance Agency, to make sweeping changes including a moratorium on foreclosures and streamlined modifications of delinquent loans to eliminate unnecessary foreclosures.  The GSEs own or insure about half of U.S. mortgages, and active help from Fannie and Freddie could make a real difference in fighting the foreclosure crisis across the country.  Today, the GSEs took a step in the right direction with th...
