ACORN Signs up Voters in Denver, Hosts Breakfast at Democratic National Convention

ACORN volunteers help people register to vote in Denver on the eve of the the Democratic National Convention August 24.

DENVER, Colo. --  On the eve of the Democratic National Convention, ACORN members from around the country signed up 80 voters within two hours Sunday to help Denver ACORN reach its milestone of registering 60,000 voters.  The non-partisan voter registration mobilization included delegates, members and community volunteers.  ACORN also is hosting a breakfast Wednesday at the Convention.

"We are pleased to help so many people become active participants in the democratic process," said ACORN member Linda Medlock. 

ACORN is nearing its nationwide goal of registering 1.2 million people by Labor Day. The group will also conduct a non-partisan voter registration drive at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minn.

On Wednesday, ACORN members will present a "Bagels and Ballots" breakfast and conversation at the Hyatt Regency, the host hotel for the DNC. 

"ACORN Votes," the federal PAC organized by ACORN's elected leadership, will host delegates during a reception from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m., at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, 650 15th St. (between California and Welton St.). The reception will include a briefing on ACORN’s platform which calls for federal action to strengthen low and moderate income families and neighborhoods.
