Minnesota ACORN
|
For the last 26 years, Minnesota ACORN has been bringing Twin Cities families together to fight for changes that improve low- and moderate-income neighborhoods. We are currently made up of over 17,000 member families from St. Paul, Minneapolis and throughout the metro area. Our local priorities include stopping predatory lending and foreclosures, increasing living wage jobs, affordable health care, improving public schools, public safety and community policing, holding absentee landlords accountable, affordable housing, and immigration reform.
Our most recent victory was passing the strongest anti-predatory lending law in the nation in the 2007 State legislative session! Now we are focused on stopping foreclosures by connecting families to available resources and calling for a temporary moratorium on foreclosures and sheriff's sales that have resulted from predatory lending.
We are also currently expanding our membership to the inner-ring suburbs of the Twin Cities and developing campaigns on state-wide issues that will grow our membership drastically in the next five years. We would love to hear your ideas about how to make Minnesota ACORN a better organization. If you would like to start an ACORN Chapter in your neighborhood, City, or County, please give us a call!
